At the suggestion of the ministry, after submitting a report, the serviceman will be able to continue serving under the contract in “separate military positions”
The Ministry of Defense proposed canceling medical examinations for fitness for service for those soldiers who were injured in combat operations abroad. The agency published the initiative on the portal of draft regulations.
According to paragraph 9 of Art. 31 of the presidential decree on issues of military service, military personnel must undergo an examination to resolve the issue of fitness for service if they are injured, injured or shell-shocked during:
- defending the Fatherland
- performing tasks in a state of emergency
- armed conflicts or in the performance of other duties of military service
- serving abroad, in the territories of states where hostilities were fought
- staying in intelligence or counterintelligence work abroad
The Ministry of Defense proposes to supplement this paragraph with a rule that the heads of federal state agencies and executive authorities, where military service is provided, can cancel a medical examination. After filing a report, the serviceman will be able to continue his contractual service in “separate military positions”. The list of these positions will be determined by the heads of the bodies.
The agency came up with such an initiative against the backdrop of Russia's military operation in Ukraine, which began on February 24. Already on March 1, the Ministry of Defense prepared a bill on awarding the status of a combat veteran to all Russian military from among the participants in the operation in Ukraine. Later, the initiative was approved by the State Duma and the Federation Council. On March 26, President Vladimir Putin signed the law.
State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin explained that veteran status would give combatants the right to receive social support measures, including tax, transport and housing and land benefits, as well as utility bills on special terms. The military, who became disabled during the operation, will also receive privileges.
