How will the rules for entry into Russia for foreigners change from July 15?

In connection with the normalization of the epidemiological situation in Russia, the operational headquarters under the government of the Russian Federation decided to cancel from July 15, 2022 temporary restrictions on crossing the state border introduced due to COVID-19.

“According to the results of the discussion, the operational headquarters decided to cancel the epidemically caused temporary restrictions on crossing the state border of the Russian Federation from July 15, 2022, established by Government Orders No. 635-r dated March 16, 2020 and dated 27 March 2020 No. 763-r», – said on the website of the government of the Russian Federation.

The anti-COVID restrictions previously adopted by the government of the Russian Federation (orders No. 635-r of March 16, 2020 and No. 763-r of March 27, 2020) will no longer be valid.

How will the rules for entry for foreigners into the Russian Federation change after the abolition of anti-COVID restrictions ?

As the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation explained to RIA Novosti, from July 15, the procedure for the entry of foreign citizens into the Russian Federation will practically return to the “pre-pandemic” one.

“Without restrictions on categories, grounds for entry, as well as checkpoints through which it is planned to enter the Russian Federation. On the basis of valid identity documents and a Russian visa (if necessary)”, – reported in the department.

However, in addition to a passport and visa, foreigners must still present a negative PCR test when entering the country.

“The requirement for foreign citizens entering the Russian Federation (with the exception of citizens of Belarus arriving by air) to present medical documents confirming a negative result of a laboratory test for COVID-19 by PCR remains in force,” – stressed in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.

Earlier,  since June 14, Russia lifted restrictions on the entry of foreigners by air and sea.

“Operational headquarters in connection with the improvement of the epidemic situation was a decision was made to lift restrictions on the entry of foreign citizens into Russia through air and sea checkpoints, but a number of restrictions on entry by land transport continued to operate, – reported in the government of the Russian Federation.

In addition, the operational headquarters decided to resume from June 14 the railway communication along the routes Tashkent – Samara and Tashkent – Volgograd with a frequency of once a week on each route. Restrictions on the entry of citizens of Uzbekistan into Russia by rail have been lifted.

What rules will be introduced from July 15 for traveling Russians?

From July 15, all restrictions “on” the departure of Russian citizens outside the territory of the Russian Federation through ground checkpoints through  the state border of the Russian Federation,” writes RIA Novosti with a link to the Russian Foreign Ministry.

Anti-like restrictions (mask regime and a ban on catering at night) in Russia have not been in effect since July 2. If the COVID-19 situation worsens, “the restrictive measures may be resumed,” Rospotrebnadzor specified.
