Korotchenko called Ukraine’s statement about a large-scale offensive in the south a bluff

“We have complete air supremacy, which is critical”

Kyiv is preparing another military adventure. According to the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznik, President Zelensky ordered the top command staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to submit a plan for the return of the southern coastal territories. Presumably, we are talking about Kherson, Berdyansk, Mariupol, which are now under our control. How realistic are the plans for a counteroffensive by the armed forces of Ukraine? MK asked Igor Korotchenko, editor-in-chief of the National Defense magazine, to assess the situation from a military point of view.

— Ukraine is not able to return the territories previously liberated by Russia, – the expert believes, – since the operational-strategic initiative is completely in the hands of the Russian Armed Forces. Plus, we have complete air supremacy, which is critical.

This means that Ukraine will not be able to carry out large-scale transfers and deployment of any military reserves from the western and central parts of the country. Ukraine is also incapable of any serious actions from the sea, simply because it has not had a fleet for a long time.

So, such statements by Zelensky can only be regarded as a foreign policy bluff aimed at inspiring his Western patrons against the backdrop of numerous defeats that the Ukrainian army has been suffering in recent weeks and will inevitably suffer in the near future.
