Reuters learned about Canada’s decision to return the turbine for Nord Stream

Reuters: Canada will return turbine for Nord Stream-1 to Germany on the return to Germany of a turbine for the Nord Stream 1 gas pipeline. This is reported by Reuters, citing sources.

According to the interlocutors of the agency, a “positive signal” was received from Ottawa to Berlin. Initially, they plan to send the turbine to Germany, after which it will be transferred to Gazprom. This will allow Canada not to violate sanctions, Reuters emphasized.

Siemens Energy declined to comment on this information.

Earlier, The Globe and Mail, citing a senior Canadian official, also reported that Canada and Germany are close to reaching an agreement that will allow the return of a gas turbine to Russia, the absence of which Moscow attributes its decision to reduce gas pumping to Germany.
