Reuters learned about the plan of Ukrainian Prime Minister Shmyhal to visit Washington

Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmygal, Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko, head of the National Bank of Ukraine Kirill Shevchenko and a number of other Ukrainian officials will visit the US capital next week. This is reported by Reuters, citing sources.

According to their information, the Ukrainian delegation during a visit to the United States should hold bilateral meetings with representatives of the financial departments of the G7 countries and other states. In addition, the agency notes, members of the delegation will take part in a round table dedicated to Ukraine, which will be held by the World Bank on April 21.

Since the beginning of the military operation on Ukraine Shmyhal and President Volodymyr Zelensky, according to official information, did not travel outside the country. At the same time, many European politicians came on official visits to Kyiv. Among them: the head of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, the head of European diplomacy Josep Borrell, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer, Polish President Andrzej Duda, Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda, Latvian President Egils Levits and Estonian President Alar Karis.

On April 14, US President Joe Biden said that the issue of a visit by a high-ranking US official to Kyiv is now being decided, and also answered in the affirmative to the question of his readiness to pay a visit in person. In turn, French President Emmanuel Macron noted that he would go to the capital of Ukraine if it was useful, but did not intend to “succumb to fashion”; for politicians' trips to Kyiv.
