Any possibility that does not contradict common sense is allowed, the Foreign Ministry assessed the prospect of exchanging prisoners from Azovstal for Russian servicemen captured by the Armed Forces
Russia may exchange captured Ukrainian soldiers from the Azovstal plant in Mariupol on Russian military personnel, this scenario is allowed, said Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko, Interfax reports.
“I admit any possibility that does not contradict common sense,”— said the diplomat.
Rudenko noted that this topic is not within his competence. Answering a question about whether the possibility of an exchange is being discussed, he replied: “It is being discussed, probably, all this is being discussed.”
Earlier, the head of the Donetsk People's Republic Denis Pushilin announced the tribunal over the captured Ukrainian military. “I believe that a tribunal is inevitable <…>. This is the request of ordinary people, this is the request of society, this is the request of the sane part of the world community, — he claimed. Pushilin is sure that in this way “justice must be restored.” Later, he clarified that most of the captured Ukrainian soldiers brought from Azovstal are on the territory of the DPR.
The trial of the fighters of the “Azov” battalion (its symbolism is recognized as extremist in Russia) should take place on the territories of the LPR and DPR, Andrey Klishas, head of the Federation Council Committee on Constitutional Legislation and State Building, suggested in mid-May. He explained that it was in this region that they “committed their crimes”; and there is no moratorium on the death penalty.
