The State Duma postponed the term for the refusal of officials from foreign citizenship

The State Duma adopted in the third and final reading a bill, which suggests that the deadline for civil servants to renounce foreign citizenship or residence permit abroad is extended until January 1, 2023. The document was published in the electronic database of the lower house of parliament. A corresponding amendment at the stage of the second reading was made to the bill on benefits for Russian volunteers participating in the protection of the state border.

Amendments are made to Art. 27 of the law No. 116-FZ proposed by President Vladimir Putin, which came into force on July 1. It stated that civil servants have six months from the date of entry into force of the law to renounce foreign citizenship or a residence permit abroad. After this period, officials who have not submitted documents that confirm the renunciation of foreign citizenship or residence permit must be dismissed. Now they must submit the relevant documents by January 1, 2023.
